The Carroll County Community Concert Association was established in 1986 by Virginia Brose, a music lover who had enjoyed community concerts in her youth. Ginny and 160+ volunteers enrolled more than 1,300 subscribers for that initial 1986-87 season. The Dukes of Dixieland were the first performers. CCCCA got off to a wonderful start and has been going strong ever since.

A 24-member board of directors selects the performers based on feedback from the audience and coordinates all aspects of the concerts including booking, staging, and publicity. Board members are chosen from Carroll County and the surrounding areas. Several of the original members still serve on various committees.

The number of subscribers is over 1,000 each year.

All concerts are held in the Westminster High School Auditorium - a handicapped-accessible location.

The Association has sponsored over 80 different groups or individual performers including: The Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Hector Olivera (organist), The Chinese Golden Dragon Acrobats, New Christy Minstrels, The Brothers Four, Juries Irish Cabaret, Nelson Riddle Orchestra, and The Boston Brass. Dancing – singing – instrumental music – there is something to appeal to everyone.

Subscribers not only can attend performances in Westminster, but also can attend community concerts ( click here for schedules) in Gettysburg, Chambersburg , Waynesboro and Hagerstown at no additional cost through our reciprocity agreements with those organizations.
